‘The Writers Pad’ wins Gold award at the Harrogate Flower Show 2012.
‘The Writers Pad’ is the perfect place to sit and write her next novel. This serene pocket garden is relaxing and peaceful and allows the imagination to wander. Surrounded by water, books and simple planting, her next novel is bound to be another best seller!
Linda Page, a lady in her mid 50’s, is a famous author who enjoys writing in her covered outside work space (weather permitting). She enjoys ‘pottering’ in the garden on occasion, trimming and deadheading spent flowers. She employs a local gardener twice per year to change the seasonal planting, as she likes to experiment with different plants each year.
The garden is in a sheltered location, south facing and has a free draining but moisture retentive soil.
Lightly coloured sandstone stepping stones lead through the gravelled planting areas and still water, to the Cedar clad uprights which support a rooftop. Providing shade and a covered workspace in this south facing garden, the structure is backed by a solid timber wall covered with the pages from novels. A painted wooden sculpture inspired by books is nestled in the planted area.
