Winner of Channel 4′s Grand Designs ‘Garden Designer of the Year Award 2012′

As chosen by architect and TV presenter Kevin McCloud for the above award, our Chief Designer Lee Bestall and his team work throughout the entire country, creating gardens as unique as you.  Designed entirely around your lifestyle, from tiny urban courtyards to extensive areas surrounding contemporary barn conversions.

At Inspired Garden Design Sheffield, we have a strong passion for creating low maintenance modern and contemporary gardens, as well as more traditional, family, and children friendly outdoor spaces.  Modern garden design is all about incorporating the surrounding elements and borrowing landscapes, be that trees from surrounding woodland gardens, Italianate sculpture from formal gardens, those with large impressive water features and even those on sloping sites where terraced gardens really come into their own.  We design steep gardens using terraces (but not in the traditional garden sense) to great effect and specialise in creating fabulous evening themes with modern and traditional garden lighting.  Gas fire pits, BBQ areas, outdoor dining and living rooms complete with sofas and chandeliers are all things we’ve been asked to do in the past.

Country gardens and garden design for new and old urban townhouses are also common place in our garden design studio in Harrogate and Sheffield.  Awkward shaped plots in domestic gardens are very common, and where the surrounding landscape needs to be incorporated we often propose water features and other modern garden design solutions such as the reflection pool water feature in our farm buildings or barn conversions.  Courtyard gardens have a special place in my heart, as do formal Italianate gardens, gravel gardens and suburban small gardens where features such as astro turf and flower beds are essential to create excitement and mystery.

Decking and naturalistic gardens may not necessarily go together, but when designing large gardens or  for gardens around new-build houses, naturalistic planting, can go a long way to softening a garden designers vision.   As an award winning garden designer, Lee Bestall knows how important it is to be both an excellent spacial designer as well as a horticulturalist.

Paul, our landscape architect who is also based in Yorkshire is keen on developing links within Derbyshire and the midlands, as well as the rest of the north of England.  Paul is passionate about sustainable spaces and sustainability, which is why we like to recycle as much as we can.  Garden design is just a part of what we do, and the spacial arrangement is key, however its the planting plans, (a kind of paint by numbers with plants) that make a garden special.

We are fully registered designers belonging to BALI, (British Association of Landscape Industries), the SGD, (Society of Garden Designers), and have won many award-winning designs for our gardens.
